    Keepsake Box

Box is made using maple and walnut, it is 12" x 7" x 3" high, the lid is a raised panel. The hinges are brass brads. The finish is wipe on poly.

Very nice. I like the contrast in the woods and the workmanship looks great. Good Job.

        Very nice!

Can you explan how you did the brass brad hinges? Are there through-holes in the sides or something? Or did you actually have the top installed during the box glue-up?

Very nice work. I haven't always been a fan of using contrasting woods but that's changed in the past couple of years. The maple and walnut on your box work very well together. Pat

Very nice, John! Christmas present for someone?
It's a perfect project for using contrasting wood.

Very nice work indeed. I have some spalted maple and a piece of walnut I wanted to use for something. This is a good idea. Same hinge question and it looks like you can just see a lid stop in the thumb hole in the bottom pic?

Very nice and unique … I’m kind of partial to raised panels and like the one shown here.

Holes are drilled in the sides that are just slightly larger than the brass brads. then holes are drilled in the lid that are smaller than the brads. They were drilled using the holes in the sides as guides.
