We'll see. I wonder how long it will take to rebrand everything. It makes sense though - Bosch already sells drill bits, etc.David

Bosch already makes fairly good saw blades and router bits too....wonder if they're looking to improve capability, increase market share, or both?Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.Comment

So the Freud router deals, because of this perhaps?
I wonder what differences will we see? Bosch has a fairly limited blade selection (or from what I have seen), so I would guess expand that.
What about the power tools? Drop some, take feature/patents from some and expand current ones?
I can see both sets of router bits staying, as the Bosch were considered by many, occasional use, where as Freud were more high end/common use bits.
Thanks for the post, I hadn't heard anything about that.
On a side note, when I read it, I misread the name, as Ponzi.......... That has been in the news too much lately. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.Comment

sniff, goodbye beautifully sharp and balanced thin kerf diablo blades.....
on our underpowered saw, those blades were the sweetest thing. I can only hope the german engineers dont try and perfect a really great product!I think in straight lines, but dream in curvesComment

I have recently seen Freud's Quadra-Cut router bits marketed with the Diablo label, also (no mention of Freud anywhere on the package). Maybe the Diablo brand is here to stay...Comment

Freud is Bosch’s fifth strategic acquisition this year to strengthen its Power Tools division. In January and July 2008, Bosch expanded its measuring-tools business by acquiring the Chinese specialist RoboToolz and the U.S. company CST/berger. A few weeks ago, Bosch also purchased parts of the garden irrigation business of L.R. Nelson Corporation, based in Peoria, USA, strengthening its range of garden irrigation products. In addition, it has acquired the majority shareholding in Sia Abrasives, a Swiss manufacturer of flexible abrasive systems.Heck, they're on a buying spree. The meetings probably involve lots of MBA-type guys wearing $100-$200 ties using words like "synergy."
Wait until they try to integrate two quality bit/blade lines and realize that they spent a fortune to duplicate current capabilities.
Wait until they learn how two divisions that basically produce the same tooling can act like 10 year old children when it comes to resources and attention.Comment

will we see Freud-VA blades soon? (Shudder)Loring in Katy, TX USA
If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
